I can't get to the phone right now so I'm sorry to have missed your call! If you could please leave your name and message and I will get back to you as quickly as I can!—
[so, okay he wasn't expecting to get a phone call from tadokoro of all people. he thought that he wouldn't really hear anything back from the other racer after their initial.... dispute? would you even call it a dispute? it was more like a one sided dispute. BUT EITHER WAY, he thought that it after this he wouldn't have heard anything from the other again. so color him surprised when he sees that his beloved senpai left a voice message.
part of him is kind of glad he missed it, because he probably wouldn't have been able to handle the initial call once he saw who it was from. though he did at least know that tadokoro didn't really mean any of those things he did or said. and that it was just some awful trick the landlord had did. or at least that's what that kind lady told him in the park.
also he.... might have needed an entire day to work up the courage to give tadokoro-san a call, sorry senpai :c but while doing this he... might have totally forgotten what he wanted to say whenever tadokoro picked up the phone. so when he does pick up he kind of stutters and flails about. he might have also dropped his phone too, oops.] H- Hello Tadokoro-san! I'm really sorry it took me so long to give you a call back! I... I don't think my phone is set up the way I had it back home, so... ahaha- but ah, you-- you said that you wanted to meet up? I'm free right now, so if you are... we could meet up... b- but only if you want to!!
[Tadokoro feels awful. And it doesn't go away or lessen as time passes, even though he's focused his entire day into baking. He knows Onoda is a fragile, gentle child, and he was awful; so he deserves this, and as honorable as he is, he doesn't say a word. Doesn't ask Makishima or Toudou, doesn't push for any answers at all. He merely waits.
It's almost a relief when Onoda finally does call him back, when he's done with his shift at Honeybee's, shirt dusted with flour and hands feeling dry as he grips the handlebars on his bike. Good timing; he hadn't even gotten to speed on home yet.
Stuttering and warm as always... He catches himself smiling a little. Oh little guy, he's missed this.]
It's... best if we do, yeah. I won't yell at ya, promise. But I'm free. I'm just about to leave Honeybee's... Where are you right now? We can probably meet halfway, or I can just come over to you.
[Then, after a thought:] Want me to bring you anything?
[oh joy, he wasn't busy at all! he relaxes a little as he shifts his phone from one ear to the other. he's glad that you didn't bother toudou or makishima though. he already feels bad enough for accidentally spilling the beans as to how tadokoro treated him to makishima. getting toudou into the mix as well? oh he definitely doesn't even want to think what would have happened if toudou got into the mix as well. tho he's also not really sure if maki even told toudou. he'd.... like to think he didn't tho. he wasn't trying to rat on tadokoro, okay!!!!] I'm actually at home right now! But I can meet up with you if you want? That way you don't have to go out of your way.
[a pause.] Oh! No-- no that's okay! You don't have to do that for me Tadokoro-san. I just ate a little while ago, but thank you for offering.
[Home, huh... He isn't sure on Onoda's 'parents' working schedule, but he doesn't want them intervening. At least it means he's free; and with Tadokoro with an open schedule for the rest of the day, this works.]
Mm... Alright. Ah... let's meet at the gazebo in Town Square, in... fifteen minutes? Sound good?
[he nods his head eagerly.... so what if.... tadokoro can't exactly see him nodding his head..... but right, he's got to say something.] Okay! That sounds really good to me! I'll be there shortly. [on his bRAND NEW BIKE AWEE YEE.]
[He's goad he agrees. Tadokoro parks his bike again just long enough to run into the store and buy a good wad of sweets, wraps them up in one of their treat boxes, then speeds his way over the gazebo. When he arrives, smelling like fresh bread, he's actually... growing increasingly more and more nervous. He's not scared, not of Onoda, but he doesn't want to face this.
After all, after Makishima's 'punishment' and from just being cognisant of his own behavior... he feels like the worst asshole on the planet. If this was Naruko or Imaizumi, he'd feel bad but he knows they'd be strong enough to just bear with it until he snapped out of it. But Onoda? He's not as fragile as he looks, but he's a gentle kid. A thoughtful little one who just wants to help. And he can only amount his own survival at Interhigh on Onoda's eager spirit and drive to help. That's something he can't take back.
And that's why he knows he has to face him. Onoda deserves more than this in an upperclassman. He approaches the gazebo carefully, peering in to see if Onoda's beaten him there.]
[it takes onoda a little while longer for him to make it to the gazebo since he doesn't exactly have his own bike. and he doesn't feel right taking either makishima's or toudou's bike without their permission. actually, he just wouldn't even feel right taking either of their bikes regardless. but when he does arrive, he tries to quicken his pace the moment he notices tadokoro standing there.]
Hello Tadokoro-san! I hope you weren't waiting long.
[Oh, this golden child is too much for him! Tadokoro's esteem takes even more of a tankering at that innocent-eyed gaze stare focused on him as the kid moves over. His wait hadn't been more than a minute at most, and he just shakes his head, waving that away with his free hand.]
Nah, you're good, Onoda.
[He doesn't approach him at first, merely takes a seat and beckons him over.] C'mere. I got something important to tell you. Don't worry, I'm not gonna yell at you or nothin'.
Uhm, okay... [he timidly approaches the other and takes a seat right beside him. he looks up at the other curiously] So, what did you want to talk about Tadokoro-san?
[He clears his throat, then takes a breath. This is hard... even harder than Day Two of Inter-high, than that start and the song to challenge a hundred cyclists. It's hard--but it must be done. He takes a breath, then looks at Onoda again.]
So... when you gave me that rose. When I yelled at you. All that stuff... I'm sorry. I'll just be really honest with you, Onoda. I don't really know what happened, but I shouldn't have yelled at you for any of that. I don't hate you, and I don't mean anything I said. [He sighs, leaning back against the bench.] I was really mean. I can get if you hate me after this, because I was really, truly awful. But I had to tell you sorry in person. You deserve that much from me.
[his eyes widen a little as he listens to what tadokoro has to say. hate... him? onoda doesn't have it in his soul to hate anybody, much less tadokoro-san! besides he knows that the other truly didn't mean what he said. even if it felt real at the time. vietnam-san definitely helped clear things up with him though. anyways, he frowns.] I'm not going to do that Tadokoro-san! I know that... I know that you didn't mean all of those things. Someone also told me that the landlord liked playing tricks on all of us, and that you were going to act strange because of it.
[That reaction is completely surprising, but it's nice. It's nice knowing that Onoda actually figured out more about this place than he did, and much easier on his heart knowing that his little buddy didn't hate him. With a growing smile, Tadokoro just reached over to ruffle Onoda's hair.]
You're too good to me, Onoda! It was a pretty awful trick, but I'm glad. I'm real glad. I owe you a lot.
[well. to be honest someone told him what was up with the attitude change. but avoiding him while he was like that only seemed to be the best way to handle things. and as much as he hated it, he's just... really glad that the other is back to his senses. a smile graces his lips as he leans in towards the other when he reaches out to ruffle his hair.]
It's okay Tadokoro-san! I know that you didn't mean any of it. I'm just glad you're back to your usual self.
[Onoda is the most wonderful golden child. The fact that he's so forgiving just spreads a warmth through his chest, and he feels so much better. He moves his hand back after a moment, just grinning.]
Same here, Onoda. Hating someone like you is really hard. I feel really bad about it. So whatever you want me to do, or watch with you, or make for ya. I'll do it.
[he was about to wave it off once again, but... he did say that he'd watch whatever he wants with onoda. and... he looks at tadokoro with huge sparkly eyes.] You mean it?
[his eyes widen a little.] Thank you Tadokoro-san! Meeting up with you makes my day feel a lot nicer as well! I can't wait to get a bicycle again so I can bike around with you and the others.
[voice | 2/23]
We gotta...
[There's a long pause, followed by a sigh.]
Where are you? It's probably best if we meet in person. I gotta, uh. Make things right.
